In March, as many as 20 councils in the Sydney area will start to implement their annual rabbit control program.

The controversial program designed to control the feral rabbit problem will release the rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) or calicivirus into parks and bushland across Sydney in areas such as Parramatta and Sutherland Shire.

ARH Exotics vet Dr Jayne Weller explains what the calicivirus is and how you still have time to ensure your pet rabbit - and other animals - can be protected.
